4th Biennial Cornhole Tournament

Cornhole Game Play (Vermont Rules)
The USAIN Cornhole Tournament is played as doubles - two players are partnered against another team of two players. Cornhole matches are organized into innings, with one member of each team pitching four bags per inning.
For each inning: Members of each team (A and B) stand on opposite ends of the court, one in the right pitcher's box, one in the left pitcher's box (see diagram above). In the first inning, A1 and B1 take turns pitching corn bags on to the opposite platform (#1); in the second inning, A2 and B2 will take turns pitching corn bags on to the opposite platform (#2). After the completion of two innings, players A1/B1 and A2/B2 switch pitcher's boxes.
Opposing players will be pitching bags at the same time. Players have 20 seconds in which to throw the corn bag once in the pitcher's box. If time is exceeded for either or both players, the result is a foul, eliminating that bag from scoring.
Pitchers must remain within the pitcher's box while throwing. Stepping outside of the pitcher's box results in a foul, eliminating that bag from scoring.
Scoring occurs in three ways:
Before scoring bags are removed from the court at the end of an inning, both teams need to agree on scores and mark them accordingly on the tally sheet. The tournament will be played with cancellation scoring - bags in-the-hole or in-the-count pitched by opponents during an inning cancel each other out. (For example, if Team A gets two in-the-hole, one in-the-count and one foul, and Team B gets one in-the-hole, two in-the-count and one foul, then one in-the-hole and one in-the-count cancel each other out, leaving two bags to be counted for each team. Team A will have one in-the-hole and one foul, 3 points, while Team B will have one in-the-count and one foul, 1 point.)
The team who wins the round is given honors to throw first in the next round; if a tie, the honors are given to the team who pitched first in the last round.
Games are played until one team reaches 21 points OR at the expiration of eight innings, with the team with the higher point total winning. In the case of a tie after eight innings, the game will go into one extra inning. If the score still remains a tie, the match will be decided by a coin toss, except in the case of the finals, where innings will continue until one team reaches 21 or scores more points than their opponent in an inning.

Scoring occurs in three ways:
- IN-THE-HOLE: If the bag lands in the hole, or gets knocked into the hole by another bag, THREE points are scored.
- IN-THE-COUNT: If the bag lands on the box, and remains there through the inning without being knocked to the ground, ONE point is scored.
- FOUL: If the bag touches the ground before or after touching the platform, or gets knocked to the ground by another bag, ZERO points are scored; the bag is removed from the field prior to the next bag being thrown.
